Welcome, welcome! Come one, come all to Scatterbrain Magazine’s town faire! Step right up to experience all that we have to offer, as we’ve walked the perilous tightrope of self-publishing and put our hearts, souls, and eyes on the page for your enjoyment. We ask you to embrace the weird, the wacky, and the wonderful. Hundreds of messenger pigeons had to fly through secret channels to make this issue a reality. We taught the pigeons how to update spreadsheets, to hold a lance, a lantern, and a portable flash. Really, it was all the pigeons! Jokes aside, thank you to our amazing (41-strong!) team. Our members have lived their whole young lives to spark the ideas you’re about to see. They turned friends into creative partners, collaborators into friends, and crossed the Canadian-American border many times. This issue is a celebration of practiced skills, first tries, and growth for every one of us. All magazine sales go towards funding our members’ projects, covering printing costs, and supporting events and our extended creative community of artists in Montreal and New York. So, thank you, friend, for sharing this moment with us – maybe we’ll soon see you in these pages! And, of course, all are welcome under the big top.

"Coney Island" with Keri Sheheen and sideshow performers.
“Summer in south Brooklyn always includes a venture out to Coney Island. Taking the N (or D or Q) all the way to the end of the line, you can watch from the elevated track as sidewalk turns into beach, and beach into ocean—by New York standards, the edge of the world.” READ MORE >>>
