When we think of Hollywood, California in the 90s and early 2000s, it’s all glitz and glam and paparazzi. Some might say Times Square is the Hollywood Boulevard of New York, but they’re wrong – its kin neighborhoods in the early 2000s were the East Village and Soho. But anyone who’s lived here knows that the real pulse of New York isn’t at Carbone or Kith anymore—it’s in the skate parks, local shows, and artist markets. Our boulevard stars are the brightly numbered circles of the subway lines that connect our communities across boroughs. Outside of the flashing lights and billboards, who are we to each other?
