And so…my skin shifts to a new shade
The one they call Black girl magic
It's the foundation of
An enchanting embrace that glorifies
The magic of innovation
The unstoppable wave of creation
Arising from our imagination
It's our love
It's our sisterhood
It's in the confidence we share
It's in all the revolutions we battle
And despite any obstacles,
Our magic prevails
Through our realness
Black girl magic … running through our veins
Some may name it the Eve Gene
The gene that brings us back to the origin
The land of Eden
While some may have tried to question my place in this world
But let me remind you that
As Eve, I'm part of this world Genesis
As Eve, I am the mother that birthed you all
And through your DNAs, my existence remains without an end
So yeah, some may try to play pretend
Cover their eyes and play blind
But don't worry,
They will see…
Every line you trace back
History takes roots in my bloodline…
Dare I say, the future is mine
You may think I'm conceited
But plain truth be told
The future comes from our mind
So, tell me …how are we not the true blueprints?
Well, I have a theory
They may have been stoned by the Mandela effect
But I'm not one to forget Nelson's legacy
Him and others paved the way
Drawing us a map to better days
It's written in the palm of my hands
As the blueprint lines predicted
I can see the paths leading us
Back to the motherland
Black to the future
I foresee blackness
Not to be confused with darkness
'Cause blackness has never been so bright
Let me say it again, black to the future
I see it so clearly, I can even taste it
It tastes like complete independence
A.K.A. governance over what's ours
It tastes like pure recognition
A.K.A being seen for our true value
It tastes like my community can finally live in ease
A.K.A we self-healed
We self-healed
Through art, music and countless disciplines
We self-healed… and we rose
We rose and reclaimed agency of our own
We rose and took the freedom we are owned
And just like a rose we bloomed into the flower
We were meant to be as a community
Living at the intersection of the black rainbow
Et c'est là où je loge notre future
Là où toutes les couleurs s'entrecroisent,
Et inévitablement deviennent noires
À l'intersection de toutes nos dimensions
My blackness is every shade of the rainbow
